HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Congratulations on your choice to become a Realtor!
To be licensed in the state of Colorado as a real estate professional, you mush complete 168 hours of pre-licensing education through an accredited school. Cost varies by provider. You may find information regarding schools and cost at www.dora.state.co.us/real-estate. Click on Education then on Providers/Schools.
After you have completed your education, you must take and pass the broker's exam. The cost of the exam is @$74. You must then complete a fingerprint card in black ink (your local police or sheriff department can assist you with this).
You must also purchase E&O Insurance (Errors and Omissions) through one of two providers (Rice or Williams). It is important to discuss the selection of your E&O provider with your Employing Broker to make certain you are insured as required by your company. Be sure to have proof of your E&O for presentation with your documentation for licensing.
Have your Employing Broker complete your application and take all of your documentation (application, finger print card, proof of passing your exam, proof of E&O) to the Colorado Division of Real Estate. You will be required to pay an application fee of $190. Note that processing may take up to six (6) weeks with an application that is complete and submitted properly.
